The US Department of State commissioned GA1 to create a marketing and PR campaign to promote the New Passport Card. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Passport Services, Brenda Spraque, and Chief CBPO (U.S. Customs and Border Protection) for the US Department of Homeland Security, Jose Castellano, participated in a press conference at the Port of Miami in Miami, Florida. The press conference was held on Monday, August 18, 2008 to discuss the production and use of the new U.S. passport card. The focus of the campaign is to bring awareness to the new passport card, a convenient wallet sized document to be used for re-entry to the U.S. The card can only be used at land border crossings and sea ports of entry when arriving from Mexico, Canada, the Caribbean and Bermuda. The ads entitled “Did You Know?”, “Checklist” and “New Years Resolution” are attached here for review.
As part of the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative (WHTI), travelers will be required to present a single document denoting both citizenship and identity when entering the United States through land and sea borders. This requirement goes into effect beginning June 1, 2009.
